His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR today led state government officials to the distribution of Cheques to the victims of several fire outbreaks that occured couple of years back in the state.
There are 5,670 victims that have been identified and screened by the state committee, and that each and everyone of them will receive his contribution based on percentage, today 700 will receive theirs at this ceremony and the rest will receive theirs afterwards.
The victims who were affected by the fire outbreaks in Sabon Gari Market, Farm Centre GSM Market, Yan Katako Market, Kurmi Market and Singer Market, received cheques to reduce their loss.
It will be recalled that Kano State Government under the able leadership of Governor Ganduje set up a committee to look into the courses of these fire disasters and to also identify those affected by it.
The State Government also launched a very successful appeal committee to raise funds for the victims and went further to donate N500Million as its contribution, and Alhaji Aliko Dangote also donated N500Million, as well as other donors and a total of about N1.5Billion was realised for the victims.
Other dignitaries who graced the occasion include the Deputy Governor of Kano State Prof Hafiz Abubakar, Sarkin Kano Mallam Muhammad Sanusi II, Alhaji Bashir Gwammaja, Alhaji Abdulmunafi Sarina, and others.
