Kano slashes March salaries of political office holders by 50%

Kano state government has slashed the salaries of political office holders in the state by 50 per cent for the month of March due to dwindling resources.

The state commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, who disclosed this in a statement, Tuesday said the action was due to shortfall in the revenue accruing to the state from the federation account.

KNSG gives N2.5 million each to overall winners of the National Qur'anic Recitation Competition

The 35th National Qur'anic Recitation Competition has ended in  Kano with Muhammad Auwal Gusau from Zamfara State emerging best in the male category while Nusaiba Shu'aibu Ahmed from Kano State took the first position in the female category,the two overall winners each received a cash prize of N2.5 million from Kano State Government.

Ganduje Donates N18.5m To victims of Shasha Market Mayhem

Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has donated N18.5 million to 185 indigenes of the state who were victims of the Shasha market mayhem in Ibadan.

Kano State Commissioner for Information, Malam Garba Mohammed, who led the state government delegation, gave each of the victims N100,000 on Tuesday in Ibadan.

Other members of the delegation were Barr. Ibrahim Muktar, Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, and Malam  Muhammed Sanusi Kiru, Commissioner for Education.

KANO AGRO PASTORAL PROJECT AWARDS N83. 5 MILLION CONTRACT FOR ANIMAL VACCINES

Kano state Agro Pastoral Development Project, KSADP, has awarded contract worth N83, 493, 176, for supply of 8,250 vials of Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia, CBPP, vaccines and 20, 000 vials of Peste des Petits Ruminants, PPR vaccines.

Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia, CBPP, is a contagious bacterial disease that affects the lungs of cattle while Peste des Petits Ruminants, PPR is also a highly infectious animal disease affecting domestic and wild small ruminants.

2ND WAVE OF COVID 19: KANO DIRECTS CIVIL SERVANTS TO STAY AT HOME, BANS VIEWING AND EVENT CENTRES

Kano State Government has imposed fresh ban on the activities of viewing and event centres across the state following increasing COVID-19 cases.

The state commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, who made the revelation in a statement, said the measure was part of decision at a stakeholders meeting held at the Africa House, Kano on Monday.

He said that all civil servants in the state have also been directed to stay at home pending further instruction.

Ganduje tasks Old Boys Associations on Education Development 

Kano State Governor Dr.Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has said the way   education standards in the country have fallen, it is imperative for old boys associations to partner with government, well meaning individuals and corporate bodies in delivering qualitative education. 

The Governor represented by his Deputy Dr.Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna made the statement on Saturday  at the Annual lecture organised by the Barewa Old Boys Association held at Meena Event Centre,Kano.

FOOD SECURITY: GOV GANDUJE TO INAUGURATE CAPITAL INTENSIVE RENOVATION OF WATARI DAM

Kano state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, will flag-off the renovation of Watari Dam, in Bagwai local government area of the state, in November, 2020.

The project will be carried out by Kano State Agro Pastoral Development project, KSADP, a project mainly financed by the Islamic Development Bank, the Lives and Livelihoods Fund, LLF and the government of Kano state.

Gov Ganduje Appoints New Rector for Kano Poly, Council Members for Maitama Sule University

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has approved the appointment of Dr. Kabir Bello Dungurawa as the new Rector of Kano State Polytechnic.

Dr. Dungurawa succeeded Prof. Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa who was appointed the Vice Chancellor of Yusuf Maitama Sule University recently. 

Other appointments that are with immediate effect are  Prof. Yusuf Mohammed Sabo and Dr Salisu Maiwada Abubakar as Council members of Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano.
