-Ganduje says Buhari is Kano politics, vice versa
President Muhammadu Buhari was received by millions of supporters in Kano, Thursday, when he visited the state for his re-election campaign in the forthcoming general election, that was held at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata.
Touched by the mass turn out of supporters, who trooped the major streets in the city, blocking all routes chanting pro-Buhari slogans, President Buhari said Kano is his place and assured that he would continue to deliver to the nation when re-elected for the second term.
While urging Nigerians to be peaceful during election period he encouraged that his administration would be committed in boosting the national economy, "With the ban of rice importation, our local rice production increases immensely."
To dispel rumor making round as his relationship with Ganduje, President Buhari raised Ganduje's hand after giving him the party flag, signifying presidential endorsement of his gubernatorial bid.
Buhari said "Kanawan Dabo (people of Kano) this is your governor Ganduje! This is your governor Ganduje!! This is your governor Ganduje!!!
When Buhari raised Ganduje's hand the venue turned more cheerful with loudest ovation, thousands of supporters chanting "Sai Baba! Sai Baba!! Sai Baba!!!
To express his satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the campaign, he further urged Nigerians to continue with the peaceful attitudes and be peaceful also during election period, coming up in the next few days.
"I employ you to participate in elections peacefully. We all need peaceful election. As security improves in the country, people should also remain peaceful," he said.
In his acceptance remarks, Ganduje said "President Buhari is Kano politics and Kano politics is Buhari. They are inseparable. Your Excellency, Kano is your place, it is your base Sir."
Adding that "You are doing your best for the development of the state in particular and the nation in general. We are seeing federal government projects all over Your Excellency. We are very grateful for that Sir."
While explaining why President Buhari was not able to commission some projects executed by the state government "...because the projects are just many to be commissioned now during presidential campaign tour" he reveals that, another day would be fixed for that.
"Mr President said he would find another time to come for the commissioning of these projects God's Grace," he discloses.
Earlier the President was at the palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, when he acknowledged the support he gets from Kano all through his political sojourn.
Buhari said, "I am in Kano not to purposely seek for anything other than to thank people for their unalloyed support. Whenever I am in Kano, I feel at home. Therefore I am just here to greet my people."
In his response, Emir Sanusi applauded federal government's effort in the area of youth empowerment and school feeding programme, emphasising that, being an Economist, he truly understands the impact of the two programmes.
Some former heavyweights of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), who recently decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), were officially received by the President at the venue of the rally, Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium, Kofar Mata.
They included the former Deputy Governor of the state Prof. Hafizu Abubakar, Gen. Idris Bello Dambazau (rtd), Senator Isah Yahaya Zarewa, Bala Gwagwarwa, Babangida Sule Garo, Engineer Mu'azu Magaji, Kabiru Kama Kasa, among others.
