COVID-19: Kano Government Converts Facilities to Isolation Centres

  Kano State Government is converting some facilities into Isolation Centres as part of effort of containing the spread of COVID-19.

The Deputy Governor, Dr.Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna who is also the Chairman of the State Task Force Committee on COVID-19 disclosed this when he paid an inspection visit to the facilities.

The facilities are the Abubakar Imam Urology Hospital,Murtala Muhammed Library Complex,Hospitality and Tourism Institute formerly Daula Hotel,Sports Institute at Karfi and the Nigerian Air Force Hospital in Kano.

   Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has directed the state Ministry of Health to carry out verbal autopsy of those who lost their lives to various strange ailments over the weekend.

The state commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba who announced this in a statement made available to journalists in Kano on Monday, said a combined team from the state Ministry of Health and the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) have been drafted to eight Local Government Areas within the Kano Emirate Council to perform the autopsy exercise.

COVID-19 Lockdown: Kano launches Palliative Distribution

   Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has on Thursday launched the distribution of palliatives to poor people following the imposition of lockdown order as a measure to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

Speaking at the flag off ceremony in Kano, Chairman of the Fund Raising Committee on COVID-19, Yahuza Bello, said the items would be distributed to 50,000 households of poorest of the poor across the 44 Local Government Areas of the state.

COVID-19: KANO STATE RELAXES LOCKDOWN

Kano State Government on Wednesday relaxed lockdown order for one day, 6 am – 12 midnight tomorrow, Thursday.

The state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, announced this during at a media briefing of the committee.

Gawuna, who is also the Chairman, State Taskforce Committee on COVID-19, said the relaxation of the lockdown is to enable the people to prepare for Ramadan.

NCDC COMMENDS KANO'S RESPONSE, GANDUJE SEEKS FG's SUPPORT

   Director General of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, has commended Kano State Government  response to the fight against the deadly COVID-19 pandemic in the state, appreciating that he relayed the message of commendation on behalf of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

While commending Kano’s response team, as one of the best in they country, he said to the governor “We appreciate your good support and contribution in the state response team. We have no other option but to support you Your Excellency.”

KNSG COMMENCES EVACUATION OF ALMAJIRIS TO OWN STATES

   As part of effort to ensure sustained implementation of its Free and Compulsory Basic Primary and Secondary Education, Kano state government has moved to decongest Almajiri schools, as arrangements have been finalized for the official evacuation of Almajiri pupils to their respective states/local government for onward reunion with their families.

Already, preparations have been concluded for the handing over of 432 Almajiris to the Katsina state government scheduled to take place tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Kano/Katsina border.

COVID-19: MUHAMMADU BUHARI HOSPITAL TO SERVE AS ISOLATION CENTRE IN KANO

   Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has directed the conversion of Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital Giginyu to an isolation centre for treatment of people that have tested positive for Covid-19 in the State. 

The category of people that will be accommodated at the hospital are confirmed positive cases that have mild or no symptoms at all. 

The facility will have 100 beds and it has all other necessary equipment for the treatment of patients.

ABBA KYARI: GANDUJE FIRES COMMISSIONER OVER INDISCREET COMMENTS

  Kano state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has relieved the appointment of the commissioner of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Mu’azu Magaji, with immediate effect.

A statement signed by the commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba said the commissioner was removed following his unguarded utterances against the person of the late Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari.

He said as a public servant, the commissioner ought to have respect the profanity of the office by refraining from any act capable of rendering the office to disrepute.
