Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state urges Kano Pillars fans to be well behaved as the club faces Asante Kotoko from Ghana in the CAF Champions League encounter, slated for Saturday 10th August, at Sani Abacha Stadium.
While wishing the winners of AITEO Cup, after defeating Niger Tornadoes at FA Champions Cup, recently in Kaduna, he hopes strongly that the club would perform wonderfully well in the African championship league.
He made the assertion during inspection visit at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano, to ascertain the level of renovation work done in final preparation for the CAF champions league when Kano Pillars would have an encounter with Ghana's Asante Kotoko of Kumasi.
"I am inviting Kano people to come out en mass to support our loving Kano Pillars in the forthcoming encounters. Let us give them a morale booster similar to what we gave them during their encounter with Niger Tornadoes at Ahamadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna during AITEO Cup," he pleads.
He said he wants the stadium to be filled to capacity, urging that, "But I want our supporters to be highly disciplined. You have to behave very well, so as to show to the world that, yes Kano is skilfully prepared for the encounter, in both performance and character."
Disposition of good behaviour, according to the governor, would pave way for another round of victory in the African Championship league, adding that "We are expecting this African Trophy to also come to our dear state, Kano, through our loving Pillars football club."
Areas undergoing massive renovation in the Sani Abacha Stadium include, the Fitch, two dressing rooms for home and away teams, VIP stand box, Medical Centre, Mix Zone, communication gadgets for improving the security network all over the stadium, among others.
Enough electrical apparatus are being put in place for adequate supply of electricity during matches and beyond, good arrangement for adequate water supply and other major essentials to make the stadium fully standard and ready for the CAF Champions League.
Ganduje promised to always support Pillars, for the club to move higher and higher, insisting that, "As we are very proud to have you as our state team, we are promising you of our untiring support and commitment for your deserving development. As we are doing the same thing for other sporting activities."
