His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR today commissioned the Kano State Public Complaints And Anti-Corruption Commission (Zauren Sulhu) Municipal Local Govt Office, at Gandun Albasa.
In his remarks, the Govermor said that he is representing President Muhammadu Buhari who was supposed to commission the office when he visited Kano two days ago but due to tight schedule he couldnt.
He added that his administration remains committed to the fight against corruption, in line with President Muhammadu Buhari's campaign promise and his adminsitration's focus to end corruption. He added that Nigeria will not develop if we do not end corruption. He maintained that this office is provided for the people to bring any case of corruption to the agency, without going to the headquarters of the agency.
Governor Ganduje has established the Anti-corruption office in each of the 44 local governments in the state, which is aimed at bringing the agency closer to the people at the grassroot.
It will be recalled that Kano state remains the only state in Nigeria to have an anti-corruption agency. The commissioning of this office today, is symbolic because today 9th of December is a day set aside by the United Nations as World Anti-Corruption Day, to fight against corruption.
The office is equipped with communications gadgets, computer and internet for easy dissmination of information. It is also intended to serve as a reconciliation centre for disputes and solving conflicts between the citiens or any other case.
