His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR attended the Call-up ceremony of over 2,400 corp members, set of Batch A posted to Kano orientation camp, at the permanent site in Kusalla in Karaye local government area in the outskirts of the state.
Governor Ganduje In his speech welcomed and congratulated the 2018 Batch A corp members for this accomplishment and urge them to use the oppurtunity well, part of their quota to National Development and their service to the nation. He also urged them to get to know Kano as some of them, this is indeed their 1st trip to the state, while others especially those from the South, it's even their 1st trip to the North, which is one of the essence of the scheme.
This year's NYSC corp members posted to Kano comprise of 1,289 males and 1,198 females from across the country, and the orientation course is the 1st of the NYSC cardinal programme primarily designed to prepare and equip corp members for the actualization of the numerous objectives of the scheme.
Other dignataries who graced the occasion include, the NYSC Director General, Brig Gen SZ Kazaure, the State Coordinator of NYSC, representative of His Highness Sarkin Kano Muhammad Sanusi II, members of the State Executive Council, Special Advisers to His Excellency and other top govermment officials.
The Governor also used the occasion to commission new block of lecture halls, 17 new toilets and 17 new bathrooms, as well as motorized boreholes with 200,000 litres capacity overhead tanks for the use of the corp members at permanent site of the NYSC camp in Kusalla, Karaye, constructed by his adminstration.
