His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR today laid the foundation stone for the construction of an Ultra Modern Theater Complex to commemorate the 58th Anniversary of National Orthopaedic Hospital Dala Kano, at the hospital's premises.
Before the foundation laying ceremony, Governor Ganduje had earlier delivered his speech at the hospital's auditorium, in the presence of the entire hospital's management and staffs. He congratulated them for the services they have been rendering for the past 58 years, which he said have been 58years of excellent quality services, to not just the people of Kano and Nigeria, but other African Countries like Niger Republic.
Governor Ganduje added that his administration, has accorded high priority to the health sector, as can be attested by the numerous projects that have already been put in place like the Muhammadu Buhari and Zoo Road Hospitals, among others, which will drastically reduce medical tourism out of the country. In his remarks, the Medical Director of the Hospital Dr Muhammad N. Salihu, welcomed the governor and his entourage and stated that in the history of the hospital, Governor Ganduje remains the only Governor that has visited it several times, for one reason or another, who has also assisted it in many ways, to support its activities despite being a national hospital.
The Medical Director Dr Muhammad N. Salihu thanked the Governor specifically, for the construction of the Katsina Road by Kofar Ruwa underpass which he said will go along way in making it easy for staffs and patients to make their way to the hospital in good time. He added that the newly commissioned Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital which has among other things, a new MIR machine, will be very usefull to the hospital, as they already have over 30 patients currently waiting to use the machine, as it is a state of the art one, the only one of its kind in a public hospital in the country.
He also appealed to the Governor to assist them in their push for the establishment of a Federal College of Orthopaedic Technology in Kano, which he said they have been pushing for, through the National Assembly and other relevant stakeholders.
The Governor and other dignitaries also gave certificates of commendation to some outsanding staffs of the hospital.
Governor Ganduje was accompanied by the Honourable Commissioners of Health, Justice and that of Information, Advisers as well as other top government officials.
