Germany Congratulates Ganduje for Unprecedented Achievements

Thrilled by the achievements recorded in the administration of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, of Kano state, in many areas, the Republic of Germany has decided to extend investment windows to the state, for virile and more sustainable development.

This was disclosed by the German Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Dr. Bernhard Schlagheck, when he paid a courtesy call to the governor, at the Government House, Kano, stressing that, "This is my first time of being to Kano state. And I know how important Kano is in Nigeria."

"We are congratulating Kano for the achievements recorded under your administration, the Governor of Kano state. Achievements in areas like agriculture, solar power and other more areas for the development of your state," he acknowledged.

He further notes that, almost all German investments are in the South West of Nigeria, particularly Lagos state, revealing that, "We want come to the North for investments, especially Kano state, that is strategically located with market opportunities."

Dr. Schlagheck hopes that there would be partnership between Germany and Kano state in the areas of energy, agriculture and many more other areas for the development of the state.

On the political front, the Ambassador, appreciates how politics is being played in the state, emphasising that, "Kano has always been an important pillar in election process in the country."

In his remarks, Governor Ganduje urged Germany to see how large Kano is, as a global market, "As a commercial nerve centre of the North and for some neighbouring countries like Niger Republic and Tchad Republic," he highlighted.

"Investing in Kano is like investing in the West African countries because of the already established market we have and operate. Our main sector is agriculture," Ganduje said.

Ganduje said there is huge gap in the agricultural sector which needs further interventions. Urging that more effort is needed in the mechanisation of farming. "We need to do much in this area. And I am sure Germany can come to this area," he said.

"We need to put much effort in the mechanisation of farming so as to hasten the development of our state in this sector, which has become the mainstay of our economy," he stated.

Another area Ganduje called for intervention is that of processing of farm produce aspect, saying that, "...when processed well, we can now provide enough to the teeming populace."

"We need further cooperation in the area of education, safeguarding our cultural heritage among others. Our relationship will continue to flourish," he concludes
